Carolyn Fielder Evans, 87 of Dadeville, Alabama, passed away on August 4, 2025, at Chapman Healthcare Facility in Alexander City, Alabama.

Carolyn was born June 17, 1938, in St. Charles, Missouri, the daughter of Newton Goodrich and Mary Alice Fielder.

After graduating from St. Charles High School, Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Rex Evans. Rex had enlisted in the Air Force, so they traveled all over the world and finally settled to retire in Dadeville, AL. Carolyn worked as a Bookkeeper with the Civil Service and she also was the security supervisor in Stillwaters in Dadeville, AL for many years.

Carolyn’s passions included watercolor painting and spending time entertaining family and friends. She was always active and on the go. She enjoyed having friends and family come over. Carolyn also loved her Red Ridge United Methodist Church family and was active in the Church until her health started to decline. She was known for her boundless energy and her ability to make anyone feel welcome. Her warm heart and selfless spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

The true light in Carolyn’s life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished every moment with them.

Remaining to cherish Carolyn’s memory are her daughter, Terri (Delma) Conway; Grandchildren, Andy (Krissy) Conway, Adam (Jennifer) Conway, B.J. Szafran; great grandchildren, Anslei Conway, Blake Conway, Mabry Szafran, Hannah Conway; step great granddaughter, Madyson Benefield; brother Dennis Goodrich and a host of friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rex Evans; daughter, Debbie Szafran; sisters, Margie Vanhorn, Lois Needham, Wanda Wuelling, Marietta Goodrich, Jennie Wuelling; her brother, Billy Goodrich.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Red Ridge United Methodist Church, 8091 County Road 34, Dadeville, AL 36853. Visitation will be at 10 am with the service at 11 am. A private family interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
