David was a 1979 graduate of Reeltown High School. He started his first job at the Dadeville IGA at the young age of 15. Later he was hired as the produce manager at the Dadeville Piggly Wiggly. Piggly Wiggly then transferred him to their LaFayette store. It was in the LaFayette Piggly Wiggly that David met the love of his life, Patsy Caldwell Clark. Patsy was in nursing school in the Valley. On her way to lectures, she would stop in the store to get candies to take to class. Around January 7, 1985, she stopped as usual at the store but the lights were off but she could see employees in the store. She knocked and David came to the door. She asked if they were open, David didn’t tell her they were not open yet but said to come on in. She got her candy, paid and left. She later found out the David would come in early to let the deli staff in, then he would go into the office to get a nap while waiting for time to open the store. That day he didn’t get his nap. They started dating on December 14, 1985. They loved to play a game called “Let’s Make a Deal”. One night Patsy was stressing over nursing school and threatening to drop out. David was cooking supper and walked into the living room with a spatula in one hand and a skillet in the other. He looked at Patsy and said, I’ll make a deal with you. You finish school and graduate and we will get married. And that was how he proposed. She took his deal, finished school and the were married on June 21, 1986 and have been honeymooning ever since.

In recent years, David worked as an extrusion line operator in Newnan, GA at Flexseal. He and Patsy developed a line of BBQ products and owned Hillbilly Krak Sawse. This included sauces, sweet heat pickles, dry rubs and chow chow that they sold at farmer’s markets, special events and festivals. They even had some sold in grocery stores in the Newnan to Peachtree City areas.

David loved hunting, fishing and Alabama sports (Roll Tide). He was an avid collector of guns and knives and was extremely knowledgeable about each piece in his collection. He was a member of Shepherds Chapel Church.

David is survived by his parents, Ralph and June Kenney; wife, Patsy Caldwell Kenney; sons, Robbie (Kim) Clark, David W (LaRae) Clark; grandkids, Ashlee (Dyron) Johnston, Allison (Paul) Ricks, Haley (Leon) Blomeley, Ethan (Phelicia) Clark, Peyton Ledbetter, Colby Clark, Brandon (Brie) Clark, Samantha Clark, Kryslin (Deejay) Ketterer, Gabbie Washburn, Zaden Clark, Aidan Loeffelman, Stormie Mae Shoemaker, Gideon Shoemaker; 19 great grandkids; sisters, Melody (Dennis) Stiff, Laurie (Steve) Gann; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
