Donna K. Beam, 80, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born January 25, 1946, in Watseka, Illinois, to Marvin and Catherine Hembree Gocken.

Donna was married to Roger Beam for 38 years. She dedicated more than 40 years of her life to child nutrition and school food service. She began her career in the Illinois school system before continuing her work in Alabama school food service, where she remained until her retirement. She also served as president of the School Food Service Association in Illinois.

She loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them. She enjoyed spending time at the lake, beach, and making memories with her grandkids. There were many cookies baked throughout the years with the four grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her sons, Scott Howell (Kim) and Todd Howell; grandsons, Charles (Dena), Dillan, Trevor (Alana), and Connor (Madi); brother, Ron Gocken (Sheryl); and many other family members and loved ones who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Catherine Hembree Gocken, and her husband, Roger Beam.

Donna will be remembered for her love of family, her caring heart, her dedication to serving children, and the many memories she created throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Lake Martin Funeral Home & Cremation, 16797 Hwy 280, Dadeville, AL 36853, on September 18, 2026 with visitation from 9 to 10 am and the funeral service beginning at 10 am. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved Roger at Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens, 21927 Hwy 280, Camp Hill, AL 36850 immediately following the funeral service. Ronnie Lynch will be officiating.
