Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Langlois Martin passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 66 at her home on Lake Martin in Dadeville, Alabama, after a long battle with a progressive illness (PSP). Born in Atmore, she moved to Monroeville at age eight and later attended the University of Alabama.
She married James Martin in 1980, and the couple made their home in Monroeville for 16 years, where they welcomed their four children. They later lived in Columbus, Georgia, for six years before settling in Birmingham, Alabama, where Ann and James eventually retired.
A devoted member of the Catholic Church, Ann spent countless hours participating in parish life—teaching catechism, reading, praying, and deepening her faith. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, giving herself daily to the care of her family. Professionally, she served as a teacher in various settings and continued tutoring children in need until 2019. She retired to Lake Martin in 2021. Nurturing young people was her greatest joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Helen Langlois, and by her in‑laws, Allen and Katherine Martin, all of Monroeville, Alabama. She is survived by her six siblings and their spouses; her devoted husband, James; and her beloved children: Elizabeth (Scott Evans), Caroline (Scott Lowery), Nolan (Nicole), and Hudson (Courtney). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren—Alex, Oliver, Lily, Gretchen, Blakely, and Noah—who brought her immense joy.
The funeral mass will be held at St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Vestavia Hills, AL on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Mass will be followed by a celebration of life in the church reception hall.
