Mr. Harold Lee Ransom, 86, of Tallassee passed away on November 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Harold was born October 7, 1939, in Tallassee, Alabama to the late Leon and Sarah Roper Ransom.
On December 15th, 1959, Harold married Opal Dean Kent. They were married 62 years until her death on March 18, 2022.
Harold had many hobbies over the years. When he was younger, he enjoyed playing church softball, fishing and camping. He continued to fish and camp but later in life, he added the love of building wood furniture.
He worked for years as a Volkswagen mechanic and later worked for the gas and water department with the City of Tallassee. After leaving the City of Tallassee, Harold concentrated on his woodworking and spent many hours building wood furniture. He never stopped working on something, even up to his passing.
He is survived by his son. Harold Lee (Tracy) Ransom, Jr.; daughter, Teresa (Danny) Strong; grandchildren, Ashley (Anne) Strong, Cheyenne (Blake) Hobbs, Crystal (Ray) Wright, Crystin (CJ) Sharpe, Hannah (Josh) Hatchett, Jessica Thomas, Jordan Strong, Sadie Strong; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Garry (Dorothy) Ransom; sisters, Melva Taylor, Linda Jones and many nieces and nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Opal Dean Ransom; brothers, Larry Ransom, Ferrell Ransom; sister, Dianne Sides, Chloe Jacobs; and grandson, Joey Holman.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 960 North Ann Street in Tallassee, Alabama.
