Martha Jo Burnett

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Martha Burnett, 85, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse, and cherished friend. Martha left this world peacefully on May 16th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love that touched the lives of many.

Born October 26th of 1939, Martha was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Sonora Russell, Cecile Mckelvey, and Kesha Burnett, as well as her son Todd Miller, and a beloved sister to brothers Roy C. Cannon of Texas and Robert Sadler of Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Donna Faye Nozworthy and Laura Lynn Miller, and her beloved mother, Clyde Cannon. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took pride in her role as a nurturing, loving force in their lives.

A proud healthcare professional, Martha dedicated over 50 years to the nursing profession, tirelessly caring for others with compassion and grace. Her work was a testament to her generous spirit and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of her patients.

Martha’s warm heart extended beyond her family and her profession. She loved spending time at the beach, where she found peace and joy in the gentle waves and salty breezes. She had a sweet tooth and enjoyed indulging in anything sugary, often sharing her favorites with loved ones.

Her kindness and helpful nature knew no bounds. Martha was always ready to lend a hand, offer words of comfort, or brighten someone’s day. Her cheerful spirit, hardworking nature, and loving soul will be dearly missed by her extensive family of 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom hold her memory close to their hearts.

May her legacy of love, compassion, and perseverance continue to inspire us all. Martha Burnett’s light will burn brightly in the hearts of everyone she touched.

Lake Martin Funeral Home and Cremation is assisting the family with arrangements.

A visitation will be held at Lake Martin Funeral Home in Dadeville on Thursday May 22, 2025 from 11:00am - 12:00pm followed by a graveside service at Tallapoosa County Memorial Gardens
