Redona Gregory
Knight
Feb 2, 1967 — Oct 13, 2026
Dadeville
Redona Gregory Knight, age 59, of Dadeville, Alabama, passed away on October 13, 2026, at Baptist South Medical Center.
Redona was born on February 2, 1967, in Opelika, Alabama, to Richard Oren Gregory and Peggy Carlisle Gregory.
A proud 1985 graduate of Dadeville High School, Redona made school history as the first “Davey the Tiger” mascot. Her school spirit never faded, and she bled black and gold through and through.
At the time of her passing, Redona was employed by the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office as the Kitchen Supervisor at the county jail. She took great pride in her work and was especially proud of earning several perfect scores from the Alabama Department of Public Health.
Redona was incredibly talented in so many ways. Blessed with a beautiful voice, she earned a “Golden Ticket” in the Kowaliga Idol Contest three years in a row. She had a special gift for creating beautiful floral arrangements and decorating cakes with artistic skill and care. Redona also treasured making crafts with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. She loved to dance, listen to live music, and, perhaps most of all, make people laugh. Her talents, laughter, and vibrant personality brought joy to those fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her beloved mother, Peggy Carlisle Gregory; her husband, Michael Knight; her daughter, Gabrielle (Jason) Johnson; her stepchildren, John (Stella) Knight and Ashley Knight; and her cherished grandchildren; Jo Seth Johnson, John Michael Johnson, Christine Knight, Ariah Knight, Reina Knight, Mayah Rios, Emma Rios, and Alice Cordell.
Redona was the youngest of “The Gregory Girls” of Camp Hill. Her sisters, Rene (Lee) Gilliland of Huntsville, Anita (Leon) Smith of Dadeville, and Rochelle Aldridge of Auburn, all of her sisters would say she was a little spoiled. Redona leaves behind several special friends who were like family to her: Donna Burnett Adcock, Jennifer Burgess Stiles, Bob Collins, and David Lovelady, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Redona was preceded in death by her father, Richard Oren Gregory, who left her to be the family's only Alabama Crimson Tide Fan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Lake Martin Funeral Home, located at 16797 Highway 280, Dadeville, Alabama 36853. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Lake Martin Animal Shelter or the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Redona will be remembered for her many talents, her unwavering Tiger pride, her love of family and friends, and her wonderful ability to bring laughter and happiness into the lives of others. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
