It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roger E. Beam on April 26, 2026, in Dadeville, AL. Born August 18, 1955, to Harry E. and Shirley A. Beam of Watseka, IL. Roger married Donna K. Howell on April 9, 1988, in Watseka, IL.


Roger spent his career dedicated to serving his communities. Roger spent many years working with the children of the Iroquois County Unit 9 school district. He was a member of Woodland, IL, Fire and Rescue. Roger also served Crescent City - Iroquois EMS, as well as Iroquois Memorial Hospital Ambulance Services. After moving to Dadeville, AL, Roger continued firefighting with the local communities of Stillwater, Jackson Gap, and Eastern Valley fire departments, where he held many positions. Roger was also a licensed EMT and paramedic in IL, GA and AL. Roger served the Dadeville community and Northstar EMS.


Roger had many interests, first and foremost was spending time with family and friends. Roger was a collector of motorcycles from an early age; he owned many motorcycles, ranging from Harleys to Goldwings. He also loved the water, even gaining his Captain’s license; you could often find him on Lake Martin or in the Gulf of Mexico boating and fishing. Roger also enjoyed beating friends and family at golf.


Roger leaves behind his loving wife, Donna K Beam, his stepson Scott Howell (Kim), three loving grandsons, Charles Howell (Dena), Trevor Howell (Alana), and Connor Howell. Roger also leaves behind three sisters: Dawn Garner (Mike), Jo Ellyn Pheifer, and Holly Beam (Kelli), and many nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Harry E. and Shirley A. Beam, one brother, Edward F. Beam, and many grandparents, aunts, and uncles.


Public visitation and services will be held on May 3, 2026, beginning at 2:00 pm at Lake Martin Funeral Home, 16797 Hwy 280, Dadeville, AL. 

Per family wishes, in lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to the Enhabit Hospice at 33 Aliant Parkway, Alexander City, AL (256) 329-1266.
